Recess

Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-004147

A temporary break in a court proceeding, legislative session, or other official meeting, during which participants are excused from their duties. Unlike an adjournment, a recess does not conclude the session but merely pauses it, with the expectation of resuming at a specified time. Courts often take short recesses during trials for breaks or to address legal issues outside the jury's presence.
