Rule of reason
Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-004372
A legal standard used in antitrust law to determine whether a business practice or agreement unreasonably restrains trade. Under this rule, courts examine the specific facts and circumstances of a case, including the nature of the restraint, its purpose, and its effect on competition. This approach contrasts with the per se rule, which deems certain practices illegal regardless of their effects.
