Seal

A mark, impression, or device affixed to a document to authenticate it, signify its formal execution, or indicate the authority of the signatory. Historically, a wax seal was common, but today, a corporate seal or the word 'seal' written next to a signature can serve the same purpose. In some jurisdictions, a document under seal may have a longer statute of limitations for enforcement.
