Section 504

A provision of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 that prohibits discrimination against qualified individuals with disabilities in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. It requires covered entities, such as public schools and universities, to provide reasonable accommodations to allow individuals with disabilities to participate. Unlike the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), its application is tied directly to the receipt of federal funds.
