Secured party

A lender, seller, or other person in whose favor a security interest is created or provided for under a security agreement. This party holds a claim against specific collateral provided by a debtor to secure a debt or obligation. The rights and obligations of a secured party are governed by Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code.
