Spousal support

Financial payments made by one spouse to the other following a divorce or legal separation, intended to provide for the recipient spouse's financial needs. This is also known as alimony or maintenance. Courts consider factors such as the length of the marriage, each spouse's earning capacity, and their financial resources when determining the amount and duration of support.
