Springing executory interest

A future interest in property that divests the grantor and becomes possessory upon the occurrence of a specified condition. It does not follow a preceding estate but rather 'springs' out of the grantor's retained interest. This type of interest violates the common law Rule Against Perpetuities if it could vest too remotely.
