A charge or fee levied for the use of a public road, bridge, or other infrastructure. This payment contributes to the construction, maintenance, or operation of the facility. The collection of tolls is often governed by specific statutes or regulations, such as those administered by state transportation authorities.
To stop the running of a time period, such as one set by a statute of limitations, essentially extending the time for parties to take legal action.
