The act of confirming the truth, accuracy, or authenticity of a statement, document, or fact, often through an oath or affidavit. In legal pleadings, verification by a party attests to the truthfulness of the allegations made. This process adds a layer of accountability and can subject the verifier to penalties for perjury if the statements are false.
