An abbreviation of the Latin videlicet, meaning namely or that is to say, used to introduce a more specific statement or a complete list that spells out what was just said in general terms. In a contract it might precede the exact assets being sold, as in the property at 123 Main Street and a 2022 sedan. Unlike 'e.g.', which introduces examples, it introduces the full specification.
