Warranty adjustment program

Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-005202

A manufacturer-initiated plan to address a widespread, non-safety-related product defect by offering extended warranty coverage or repair reimbursement to affected owners. These programs cover specific components for a defined period or mileage beyond the original factory warranty, but only for the particular issue identified. Unlike a safety recall mandated by an agency like the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, participation is voluntary and the defect is not considered an unreasonable risk to safety.
