Bunker adjustment factor

A surcharge applied by shipping carriers to account for fluctuations in the cost of fuel, known as bunkers. This variable fee is added to the base freight rate to recover the additional expenses incurred due to rising oil prices. The factor is usually calculated as a percentage of the freight cost or a fixed amount per unit of cargo.
