The transportation of cargo in large, unpackaged quantities, loaded directly into a vessel's hold, a railcar, or a tanker truck. This method is used for commodities that are fungible and can be poured, scooped, or pumped, such as grain, coal, iron ore, and crude oil. Bulk cargo is categorized as either dry bulk or liquid bulk and is measured by weight (metric tons) or volume (cubic meters).
