Surcharge

An additional fee or charge added to the cost of a logistics service to cover specific, often temporary or variable, expenses incurred by the carrier or provider. These charges are separate from the base freight rate and account for costs that are not fixed. Common examples in shipping include fuel surcharges (FSC), which adjust for fluctuating fuel prices, and peak season surcharges, applied during periods of high demand.
