Aerial perspective
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003327
The effect of the atmosphere on the appearance of distant objects, causing them to appear less distinct, bluer, and lighter than closer objects. This phenomenon is due to the scattering of light by atmospheric particles, particularly aerosols and water vapor, which reduces contrast and shifts color perception. It is a visual cue used in art and photography to convey depth.
