Aircraft observation

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003397

Meteorological data collected by instruments mounted on aircraft during routine flights or dedicated research missions. These observations provide real-time information on atmospheric conditions at flight levels, including temperature, wind, and turbulence. The data are often transmitted automatically to ground stations for assimilation into numerical weather prediction models.
