Alluvial aquifer

A body of permeable, unconsolidated sediment, primarily sand and gravel, deposited by rivers, that can store and transmit groundwater. These aquifers are typically found in river valleys and floodplains, recharged by precipitation and surface water infiltration. They are a common source of water for irrigation and public supply in many regions.
