Hydrogeological boundary
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006324
A physical or hydraulic feature that defines the edge of a groundwater flow system or aquifer. These boundaries control the movement of groundwater and can be either physical, like an impermeable rock layer, or hydraulic, such as a river, lake, or a groundwater divide. The type of boundary, whether it is a no-flow, constant-head, or constant-flux boundary, is a fundamental input for numerical groundwater models that simulate aquifer response to recharge from precipitation.
