Hydrogeology

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006325

The scientific field concerned with the occurrence, distribution, movement, and properties of groundwater within the Earth's crust. It investigates the interaction of water with geologic formations, including aquifers and aquitards, and addresses issues of water quality and contamination. Hydrogeologists apply principles of chemistry, physics, and geology to manage groundwater resources and model subsurface flow using Darcy's law.
