Darcy's law

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010461

A fundamental equation describing the movement of a fluid through a porous substance, such as water moving through soil or an aquifer. The law states that the discharge rate is proportional to the pressure gradient, the cross-sectional area of flow, and the hydraulic conductivity of the medium. This relationship is valid for slow, viscous, laminar flow conditions and is expressed in units of volume per time, such as cubic meters per second.
