Infiltration well

A vertical shaft or bore designed to introduce surface water into an aquifer, replenishing groundwater supplies. These wells are constructed to facilitate the downward movement of water through permeable geological layers. They are a method of artificial recharge, contrasting with extraction wells that remove water from the ground.
