Drawdown
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-000767
The reduction in the water level of a well, aquifer, or reservoir due to the extraction of water. It is the difference between the original static water level and the water level during pumping. Drawdown is a key parameter in groundwater hydrology, indicating the stress on an aquifer.
In hydrologic terms, the lowering of the surface elevation of a body of water, the water surface of a well, the water table, or the piezometric surface
adjacent to the well, resulting from the withdrawl of water therefrom.
