Aneroid capsule
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003503
A small, flexible, evacuated metal chamber, typically made of beryllium copper or phosphor bronze, that forms the sensing element in an aneroid barometer or altimeter. Its corrugated surfaces allow it to expand and contract with changes in ambient atmospheric pressure. The precise deformation of the capsule is then translated into a pressure reading.
