Holosteric barometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006264
An aneroid barometer that uses a sealed, evacuated metal capsule to measure atmospheric pressure. Changes in external pressure cause the capsule to expand or contract, and this mechanical deformation is transmitted to a needle that indicates the pressure reading. Unlike mercury barometers, it contains no liquid and is therefore more portable and less susceptible to damage from movement.
