Metallic barometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007224
An instrument that measures atmospheric pressure using the deformation of an evacuated, flexible metal capsule, typically an aneroid cell. Changes in external air pressure cause the capsule to expand or contract, and this movement is mechanically amplified and displayed on a dial. These barometers are portable and do not require a liquid, making them suitable for field use and aircraft.
