Siphon barometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008906
A type of mercury barometer consisting of a U-shaped tube with one arm open to the atmosphere and the other sealed, containing a vacuum above the mercury. The difference in mercury levels between the two arms directly indicates the atmospheric pressure. It is a simpler design than the Fortin barometer, often used in barographs.
