Annual minimum series
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003528
A dataset constructed by selecting the single lowest value of a hydrometeorological variable, such as river discharge or reservoir level, for each year in a continuous period of record. This series is used in statistical frequency analysis to estimate the probability and return period of extreme low-value events like droughts. It is the counterpart to the annual maximum series, which is used for analyzing flood events.
