Partial-duration series

A statistical series consisting of all events that exceed a certain threshold, regardless of how many events occur within a given time period. In hydrology and meteorology, this series is used to analyze extreme events like rainfall or flood peaks. It differs from annual maximum series by including multiple events within a single year.
