Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003607

An imaginary circle of latitude on Earth, approximately 66.5 degrees North, that marks the southernmost limit where the sun can remain continuously above or below the horizon for 24 hours at least once a year. North of this line, there is at least one day of 24-hour daylight (midnight sun) and one day of 24-hour darkness (polar night) annually. Its exact position varies slightly due to the Earth's axial tilt.
