Atmospheric phenomenon

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003680

An observable event occurring within the Earth's atmosphere, resulting from physical or chemical processes. These events encompass a broad scope, including weather elements like clouds and precipitation, optical effects such as halos and rainbows, and electrical discharges like lightning. The World Meteorological Organization classifies these occurrences into four principal groups: hydrometeors (liquid or solid water particles), lithometeors (non-aqueous particles), photometeors (optical effects), and electrometeors (visible or audible manifestations of atmospheric electricity).
