Atmospheric polarization

The partial polarization of sunlight scattered by molecules and aerosols in the Earth's atmosphere. This effect is most pronounced at angles perpendicular to the incident sunlight, creating a distinct pattern across the sky. It is used by some animals for navigation and can be measured with polarimeters.
