Autan

A wind from the southeast that blows across southern and southwestern France, notably over Languedoc and the Toulouse area, and behaves like a föhn on the lee side of the uplands. The usual form, the autan blanc, is dry and goes with fair weather, while the rarer autan noir carries humid Mediterranean air and brings cloud and rain. It is warm in summer and cool in winter.
