A seasonal period of persistent rain and overcast skies affecting East Asia during the late spring and early summer. This phenomenon, also known as the plum rain or Meiyu-Baiu front, results from a stationary frontal zone that forms between moist tropical air and cooler continental air masses. The front's position and intensity determine the timing and severity of rainfall in regions like Japan, Korea, and eastern China.
