  1. An instrument that continuously records atmospheric pressure over time, typically using a pen arm connected to an aneroid barometer. The pen traces a line on a rotating drum covered with a chart, providing a visual history of pressure changes. These devices are calibrated to measure pressure in units such as hectopascals or millibars.

  2. A barometer that records its observations continuously.
