Bathythermograph print
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003858
A photographic print made from the smoked-glass slide of a mechanical bathythermograph, exposed together with the calibration grid so that the temperature at each depth is read from the paper. It gives a permanent, copyable record, whereas the scratched slide is fragile. The slide itself is the original record, and the print is a reproduction of it.
