Beavertail antenna

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003877

A type of radar antenna that produces a fan-shaped beam, narrow in one dimension and broad in the perpendicular dimension. This beam shape is useful for applications requiring good resolution in one plane, such as determining the height of targets while maintaining a wide coverage horizontally. It is often employed in air traffic control and weather surveillance radars.
