Bulk stable boundary layer growth
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004075
The increase in height of the stable atmospheric boundary layer, often occurring during nighttime hours over land. This growth is driven by radiative cooling at the surface, which creates a stable stratification that suppresses vertical mixing. The rate of growth is influenced by factors such as surface cooling rate, wind shear, and terrain.
