Burn off
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004097
To dissipate or clear away fog, mist, or low clouds due to solar heating of the Earth's surface. As the sun warms the ground, the air near the surface also warms, increasing its capacity to hold moisture and causing the visible water droplets to evaporate. This process often occurs during the morning hours after a cool, clear night.
