Carbon dioxide fertilizing effect
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004164
The observed increase in photosynthetic rates and biomass accumulation in plants when exposed to elevated atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations. This effect is a direct physiological response of plants to higher CO2 availability, which can enhance carbon uptake and water use efficiency. It is a factor considered in climate change models regarding future terrestrial carbon sinks.
