Ceiling classification

The categorization of the lowest cloud layer or obscuring phenomenon that constitutes the ceiling, based on its coverage and nature. Classifications include 'broken' (5/8 to 7/8 coverage), 'overcast' (8/8 coverage), or 'indefinite' (when the sky is obscured by fog, smoke, or precipitation). This classification is a key component of aviation weather reports, indicating flight conditions.
