Ceraunograph
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004236
An instrument that automatically creates a continuous record of lightning discharges occurring within a certain radius. It detects the electromagnetic pulses produced by lightning and marks their occurrence on a moving chart or other recording medium. The resulting record, called a ceraunogram, shows the frequency and timing of strikes over a period, distinguishing between cloud-to-ground and intracloud flashes if the instrument is sufficiently advanced.
