Ceraunometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004237
An instrument designed to detect and indicate the occurrence of lightning discharges. It responds to the electromagnetic radiation produced by a lightning flash, triggering a counter or an alarm to signal the event. Unlike a ceraunograph, which creates a continuous record, a ceraunometer may simply count the total number of strikes over a period or indicate their immediate presence.
