Climatic control

A persistent geographical or atmospheric factor that exerts a dominant influence on the climate of a particular region. These factors include latitude, altitude, proximity to large bodies of water, ocean currents, prevailing winds, and mountain ranges. For example, high latitude results in colder temperatures due to lower solar insolation.
