Cloud streets
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-000501
Parallel bands of cumulus clouds that form in the planetary boundary layer, aligned with the mean wind direction. They typically occur over relatively warm water bodies when cold air flows over them, creating convective rolls. These patterns are a visual indicator of atmospheric instability and boundary layer dynamics.
Rows of cumulus or cumulus-type clouds aligned parallel to the low-level flow. Cloud streets sometimes can be seen from the ground, but are seen best on satellite photographs.
