Windrow cloud
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010281
An elongated, tube-like line of cumulus clouds arranged parallel to the direction of the wind in the lower atmosphere. These formations, also known as cloud streets, are caused by horizontal convective rolls where rising air forms clouds and sinking air creates clear lanes between them. Windrow clouds indicate strong, unidirectional wind shear in the lower troposphere.
