Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004590

The three-dimensional field of view of an observer or an instrument, defined by an angle extending outward from the eye or sensor. In meteorology, it describes the area that can be seen by a weather observer looking for clouds, precipitation, or other phenomena from a single point. The concept is also applied to the viewing geometry of remote sensing instruments, such as those on satellites, which have a defined angular field of view.
