Confidence interval

A range of values within which a population parameter is expected to lie with a specified level of certainty. This statistical tool provides an estimate of the precision of a measurement or forecast. For example, a 95% confidence interval for a temperature forecast suggests that the true temperature will fall within that range 95% of the time.
