Contour interval

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004652

The constant difference in value between adjacent contour lines on a meteorological chart. This interval determines the resolution and detail of the representation of a variable's spatial distribution. A smaller contour interval indicates a steeper gradient or more rapid change in the variable across the map.
