Isobaric contour chart
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006680
A weather map that displays the height of a specific constant-pressure surface above sea level. Lines on the chart, called isohypses or height contours, connect points of equal geopotential height. These charts are used in upper-air analysis to identify features like troughs and ridges, which correspond to areas of lower and higher heights on the pressure surface.
