Geostrophic wind scale
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005957
A graphical tool used on weather maps to estimate the magnitude of the geostrophic wind based on the spacing of isobars. It consists of a series of lines or markings that relate the isobaric spacing to wind speed for a given latitude. This scale is specific to the map projection and the chosen pressure interval between isobars.
